Rare complication of bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement.

چکیده
CE-Perimount aortic bioprosthesis in a 59-year-old-man, implanted 8 years ago, showed non-infective severe structural deterioration. Preoperative echocardiogram demonstrated a prolapsing cusp (Fig. 1(A—C)); however, intra-operative echocardiogram and findings revealed a ‘missing’ leaflet (Figs. 1(D), 2(A and B) and Video 1). www.elsevier.com/locate/ejcts European Journal of Cardio-thoracic Surgery 39 (2011) e82

Trans-catheter Bioprosthetic Heart Valve Implantation in Iran (Tehran Heart Centre Experience)
Introduction: With the development of interventional cardiology in the world, in addition to coronary and aortic diseases, the treatment of heart valve diseases through catheters has recently begun. The treatment of aortic stenosis (which was only possible with open surgery and valve replacement) was first performed in the world in 2002 by Alain Cribier in France with catheter insertion of the ...

Obstructive thrombus is a rare complication of surgical valve replacement. Current guidelines recommend treatment with repeat surgery or fibrinolysis, especially in critically ill patients, despite a high risk of complication and death linked with these treatments. The treatment of haemodynamically stable patients is, however, less well documented. We describe the rare case of a 40-year-old pat...
متن کاملSubacute Staphylococcus epidermidis Bacterial Endocarditis Complicated by Mitral-Aortic Intervalvular Fibrosa Pseudoaneurysm
The patient is a 75-year-old man with a history significant for hypertension and congestive heart failure who underwent a bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement secondary to acute onset of aortic insufficiency. Cultures of the native valve were positive for Staphylococcus epidermidis sensitive to nafcillin and intravenous cefazolin was initiated. On postoperative day 24, he developed acute deco...
متن کاملAortico-Left Atrial Fistula: A Rare Complication of Bioprosthetic Aortic Valve Endocarditis Secondary to Enterococcus faecalis
Paravalvular aortic root abscess with intracardiac fistula formation is an exceedingly rare complication of infective endocarditis. This condition is even more rarely encountered in patients with bioprosthetic valve endocarditis. We report an unusual case of a 68-year-old Bosnian female with a bioprosthetic aortic valve, who developed an extensive aortic root abscess, complicated by an aortico-...
متن کاملTwo cases of acute bioprosthetic mitral valve thrombosis immediately after mitral valve replacement.
rosthetic valve thrombosis (PVT) is a rare complication, and most of PVT occurs in patients with mechanical valves. We present 2 extremely rare cases of acute biopros-thetic mitral valve thrombosis immediately after mitral valve replacement under veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) and anticoagulant therapy. In Case 1, a 75-year-old woman underwent aortic valve replaceme...
متن کاملTranscatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...
